DOUG HEPBURN 1953 World Champion (Stockholm) 1954 British Empire & Commonwealth Games Champion Doug has been inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame, the Canadian Olympic Committee Hall of Fame, and the BC Sports Hall of Fame. Doug won the Lou Marsh Award as Canada's top athlete in 1953. In Honour of Doug and with his approval, BCWA began the Junior Doug Hepburn Championships (Under 17 years of age) in 1998. MOHAMMAD NASSIRI 1968 Olympic Games Gold Medalist 1972 Olympic Games Silver Medalist 1976 Olympic Games Bronze Medalist World Champion - 1968, 1969, 1970, 1973, 1974 Mr. Nassiri is originally from Iran and has lived in BC for a number of years. He broke 15 World Records in his career.

Unfortunately, Paul became quite ill prior to the Olympic Games which resulted in a big drop of bodyweight and a less than anticipated performance.
